Summary

It's hard to believe how much Gyles packs into his summer term at Oxford: he's filming with the BBC, he's casting his first Oxford University Dramatic Society production, he's looking for a girlfriend, he's going to numerous balls and parties, he's in the newspapers... so this is a long and action-packed episode of the diaries. Harriet and Gyles discuss some of the changing attitudes of the times. They also talk about phobias, dahlias, stamps, cape-wearing, and read out some brilliant listener emails. If you want to get in touch, email us at [email protected]. Enjoy this!

And they share that memory, and then we unpack their story from there.

But on Tuesday, we try to do something a little bit different. We call it more Rosebud because, well, actually, usually there's less of me and more of Harriet. You don't get Harriet on a Friday, but we keep her in a little bottle, and then we uncork the bottle on a Tuesday, and here she is full of zest. I love that metaphor, Giles.

1:24.3

I mean, if only it were a metaphor and you didn't actually put me in a bottle. Yeah, I know, which you're funny. Which is very uncomfortable. Because you're a bit claustrophobic. You don't really like it. I don't like being in the bottle, man. I'm very claustrophobic. Are you? Well, actually... Do you say claustrophobic? Or do you say claustrophobic?

2:04.6

I think you could say that that was right.

2:06.4
