Summary

Happy Monday, everyone! Welcome to the third and final part of our series on Gwyneth Paltrow. By 2008, Gwyneth Paltrow had conquered Hollywood. Her next frontier - her wellness company, goop - would prove more controversial, and indeed successful, than everything before it combined. Big thanks to 20th Century Studios and ‘A Haunting in Venice’ for making this episode possible. To celebrate the release of the film we will be asking our community to share their very own whodunit stories for their chance to win tickets to a private screening here in Melbourne on the 14th of September. Keep your eyes peeled on our socials for a fun game called “Shamelessly Haunted.” This episode was researched by Eilish Gilligan and audio produced by Annabelle Lee. Got some thoughts on this scandal you wanna share? We’re allllll ears (also, eyes, heads, bodies, etc etc) - join in the convo over on our Insta @shamelesspodcast. Want to support our show? We are sending air kisses, air tea, and air hugs (too far?) to anyone who clicks ‘subscribe’ on Apple (bonus hugs for anyone who leaves a five-star review, too) or ‘follow’ on Spotify. Still not enough? Well! Our hearts! See below for everything else. Hello, part three of three.

I know, we're nearly there. We're here now at part three so I guess we've basically made it.

Let's have a really quick chat about what we covered in episode two. We touched on the fact that the casual relationship between

Gweneth Pultro and Ben Affleck did fizzle out it kind of seemed to be a

1:00.5

non-event yeah they seemed pretty casual. That relationship ended just as she was gearing up to star in the 2001

hit Shello Hell. That movie did well commercially, but culturally it was

1:16.2

certainly controversial. For those who need the refresher, this was the film

1:20.3

where Gweneth cosplayed fat Nurse by wearing a fat suit.

1:24.0

As you can imagine, it not only didn't age well, it wasn't received well at the time by plenty of people either.

1:31.0

Yeah, a few years ago, Gueneth admitted that her involvement in that film was a disaster,

1:35.4

but didn't elaborate much more on it.

1:38.2

Now Gweneth's life turned upside down in 2002 when her dad, Bruce Poultro, died of throat cancer, they were actually

on her 30th birthday trip in Italy and he didn't make it home, which sounds like quite a traumatic story. Three weeks after her dad died,

she actually met Chris Martin, the then 25-year-old frontman of Coldplay. He wrote Fix You about Gwyneth's Grief, which we love. I love the song, I love the story.

I will never get over that. These two were renowned for being anti-partying, maybe a little boring, quite health conscious.

By 2003 they were married and pregnant with their first baby, Apple, as we know, that name for a child was extremely controversial.
