Summary

Amanda and Aaron are briefly joined by Rich to talk about the glut of game announcements and demos for the summer.

In the show notes is a link to a listing of free game demos and alpha/beta/early access games for you to check out! This is a work in progress and more game demos will be added to the list soon. If there are demos that are missing from any of the recent events, please comment in the spreadsheet and they can be added.

Disclaimer: There were hundreds of games announced this weekend! We only discuss a scant handful of a few that caught our eye at the moment in the time allowed to us. We're definitely going to cross into "I can't believe you didn't talk about X" territory, and apologize if we weren't able to discuss the many games we didn't get to.

To contact us, email call@gamerswithjobs.com! Send us your thoughts on the show, pressing issues you want to talk about, or whatever else is on your mind.

0:21.3

I'm your host, Amanda Nolton, and today we're going to be talking about video game expos,

0:27.1

so not just D3 and not just the summer game fest, but everything that's kind of be going on from here and now.

0:33.4

So let's go ahead and talk to the rest of our hosts.

0:37.0

So joining us today, I've got Rich the Joy Conjure at Lovejoy. Hello. Hello, I'm in as your special Eldon Ring correspondent, your Eldon Ringer, as it were. Welcome, welcome. Also joining us, Aaron Amadola. Hello. Hello, I'm here as your resident, Hype Beast.

0:55.0

Thanks, Hype Beast.

0:57.0

So yeah, why don't we just go ahead and get right into it?

1:00.0

So let's go ahead and start with Rich and Eldon Ring.

1:04.0

Yeah, so this is one that I think a lot of people have been waiting for for a very long time.

1:10.0

I know that I personally as a, as somebody who responds to the From Games, was excited to see what they're doing with Eldon Ring.

1:20.6

And to me, it has such an extreme Dark Souls 2 energy that I'm immediately tickled and intrigued, especially one of the kind of

1:34.1

fallen aspects of Dark Souls 2 that I really liked in theory, but I don't know that they

1:39.7

quite did enough with, was the use of light. And even just looking at Eldon Ring, I feel like that's

1:45.6

going to be a big deal. Like, I'm excited to see what they do with torches. And of course,

1:51.2

having like a horse goat creature to ride around in is going to be fun. There's just, it feels like,

1:57.1

it definitely feels like the culmination of all the different things that that studio has been working on.

2:04.7

Like having a stealth system, just like having combat that looks like it is taking the interesting or like most developed parts of the previous series and kind of bringing it all together in one complete package

2:18.4

definitely has me excited and eager for January 21st, even though a small part of my brain

2:25.6

keeps saying, there's no way it's going to be pushed back. There's no way it's going to

2:29.3

hit January 20th. But I'm going to, I'm trying to believe. I'm trying to believe because I am, it was a great trailer.

2:37.1

And it's a, it's a, it's a title that I had some doubts about.

2:43.3

I wasn't, I wasn't sure about the George R. Martin lore world building.
