When filmmaker Gowinda Chadha set out to make a movie based on journalist Sophras Manzur's coming-of-age memoir

about the profound effect of Bruce Springsteen music on his life, she had one small problem.

The movie couldn't work without Springsteen songs.

So, when she and Manzor snagged a moment with the boss on a red carpet, she took her shot.

My heart was pumping 10 to the dozen, and I was like, this is it, this is your moment, what are you going to say?

Act cool, be cool, be professional, you know.

And in the end I was like, Hi Bruce, my name's Karinda Chata. I'm in Bend and I, like, okay, please help us me, want to make a movie in the book,

can you help us me?

He goes, so it sort of came out a bit like that, sadly.

But it worked.

Chadha and Mansour tell the tale of the new film Blinded by the Light,

which features no fewer than 19 Springsteen songs.

Chata also tells us how Brexit influenced her decision to make the movie and shares the excitement

of the Sundance Bidding War.

At $15 million, blinded by the light was the priciest buy of this year's festival.
