In the United States of America, the conversation is about guns right now.

Whether it should be or not is a separate question, and we'll certainly be getting into

that in some depth, because we have the luxury of time here. We can go into depth much more so than can the news media where they operate in sound bites.

And they don't really report the news. They are, in fact in many cases, participants,

advocates of a particular viewpoint. And when the president says we're going to have a

conversation about guns, what he means is he and people

who believe like him are going to talk about guns and we are going to listen. if we try to speak we will be shouted down,

demonized, demoralized, marginalized, made fun of, ridiculed, and then made irrelevant.

And that game plan is well underway already.

Just this week, as people were lining up 3, 4, 12 deep lines going around the block trying to get into stores to buy guns.

We have a newspaper in New York State which published an interactive map of all the registered gun owners in those counties.

In that area in New York you have to get a license, you have to register your handguns.

So this newspaper thought it would be, well, they'd like to say it was something about

well freedom of speech, freedom of the press. They just thought it would be clever
