We had just had to go, but Jay had called in asking about,

wanting to get an upper for his AR for deer hunting, something other than

the 223.

A couple of choices for you there.

The 300 Whisper or the 300 AAC blackout, both of those are closely interchangeable.

In fact, in the new Smith and West and Upper, you can do them interchangeable.

So you could get the Smith and Westin upper, drop it right on your lower, no matter who made you lower, and you could shoot the 300 Whistper or a 300 AAC blackout in there.

Also, you could get an upper for the Remington, the 6.8 millimeter SPC, both of those cartridges, the 6-8 or the 300s, I count them as one, really, are pretty good for deer hunting.

Again, out to 250, maybe 300 yards, which is probably about all that most people need for that.

If you want something more than that, then you probably have to go to a bigger, the AR-10-size AR platform. Now you could shoot the 308 Winchester in there. Line 2.
