It's, of course, the Fourth of July weekend, Independence Day weekend,

and we're talking about the Revolutionary War and how we got here through the shot heard around the world.

And a lot of people want to talk about the guns of the Revolution and what happened there.

All right, we're talking with Evan Brun.

He is the executive editor of American Rifleman at the NRA.

And Evan, you got a background in history and journalism.

And you're a real aficionado of, well, Revolutionary War and Civil War.

You wrote a piece about, well, started off with the movie The Patriot and said, you know, like typical movies, they get a lot of stuff wrong in guns.

What is it that we think we know that isn't true about that? Well, you know, and I have to start with, you know, giving my apologies to Mel Gibson, because it is really just a wonderfully

entertaining film. And, you know, I enjoyed a lot of people enjoy it. But, you know, when you start

looking at the details that the film conveys, that's where things start to fall apart.

And now, it kind of gives you this idea that fighting in the American Revolution was a lot more simplistic than it actually was.

You know, the British weren't just these red-coated automaton's marching in a line.

And, you know, the Americans weren't all, you know, hunting, shirt, clad, snipers operating from the woods either.
