Good morning and welcome to way too early. I'm Laura Barone Lopez in for Ali Vitale on this Monday, April 27th.

We'll start with the news. In just hours, the alleged gunmen who stormed the White House Correspondents Association dinner on Saturday night is scheduled to appear in federal court.

Surveillance video shows the suspect rushing a security checkpoint outside the ballroom of the Washington Hilton Hotel, where President Trump, the First Lady, members of the administration, lawmakers, and journalists were all attending the event. The sound of gunfire sent those in the room diving to the floor. Secret Service agents managed to quickly evacuate the president,

vice president, and other senior officials from the scene. Officials say the suspect identified

as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California, was carrying multiple firearms and knives,

and was subdued by authorities outside the ballroom. Later, President Trump confirmed that a Secret Service agent was injured in the shooting,

but that a bulletproof vest had protected him.

That agent has since been released from the hospital.

U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., Janine Piro,

said the suspect would be charged with two counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence

and a second crime of assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.
