Guilty pleasures is on strike. What does that mean? You may have heard the WGA, the Writers Guild of America as well as SAG, the Screen Actors Guild are both on strike.

WGA has been on strike for a while, so why are we making an episode about this?

This is a quick announcement, basically to say that the next couple of weeks of guilty pleasures is going to be different.

We're going to be mixing up our format. We're going to be looking at foreign films and potentially music.

We've talked about maybe doing some YouTube videos and it is in an act of solidarity and also to give us some time to figure out what the hell we're going to do.

So this week, this is what you're getting. We're going to be off this week while we figure it out. But SAG recently went on strike and they released a set of guidelines for influencers.

And this applies to anyone who wants to one day join SAG. Garrick is a SAG and WGA member. He is now double on strike. Kelsey and I are both working in Hollywood.

You know, we unions are super important. We are strong supporters of unions here. We want to show solidarity, however we can.

So in the guidelines that SAG released, they said that influencers shent not promote any movies or struck work.

Struck work, meaning things that are produced by the studios, the AM.

Yeah, as AMPTP or AMPTP. I always forget it. The AMPT. It's the studios.

By the way, I'm so ashamed because in a past episode, I called it the PGA because I was like the producers. It's not the PGA. I'm so sorry. I'm a stupid person. And sometimes I speak and I don't even hear myself speak. It's the studios.

But in that time, it's AMPTP alliance of motion pictures and television producers. Yes. So this is a heated battle and it's really about the future of the industry, this industry that we love.

And it's a shame because this week really should be this victory lap for the movies. We, you know, I think y'all know what I'm talking about. There are movies that we wanted to cover on this show.

That I think show off some of the best, most creative, innovative filmmakers really showcasing the full power of what the movies can be, why it's so special, why it's so wonderful.

But SAG has said that they do not want influencers, which I self I begrudgingly am I do consider myself on.

They don't want us promoting struck work. And that means paid or unpaid. Now we are a movie review show. There are people who are reviewing movies are not stopping.

I know there are a lot of YouTube reviewers. So it's possible that this is okay. But we are waiting for official confirmation from SAG.

We're trying to talk to them. They are pretty overloaded right now. So when we get words possible in the next couple of weeks that they're like, yeah, go on.

But for the time being, we want to show solidarity. We are not going to be talking about struck work. That's the dick. That is our small part in showing solidarity, helping with the strike.
