1976, back when I was a college student, and I'm one of the three founding members of the group.

So we have grown to more than 14,000 nationwide. The group was asked to go national in 1978,

and has long been the nation's largest association of free thinkers.

And we also work, and our most important work, we believe, is to keep state and church separate.

And even though we think 14,000, after you start off with three members, 14,000 seems like a lot.
