Jeff Stanton, Rick Johnson, 13 national supercross and motocross titles together.

Incredible, a couple of champions of the sport.

And, I mean, again, as I say in this podcast, upcoming, I don't want to be super dramatic here, but Gainesville, 1989, things changed.

RJ was the best rider in the world. There was no doubt, and he got landed on, broke his wrist.

Jeff was learning, coming on. Jeff went on to win six national and supercross titles after Rick got hurt.

It learned a lot of things from Rick.

RJ never won another title, won some races, but never won another title.

And what could have happened in motocross history if Danny Storbeck hadn't landed on RJ's wrist?

Certainly Jeff was up and coming and would have won a lot of titles and nationals from there,

but you never know, and it changed motocross history.

And it's just an interesting thing.

These two guys became friends.

Rick showed Jeff a lot of the ropes.

Scott helped him get a ride on Honda.

Jeff took everything, worked his balls off, took it to another level and won six titles.

And it's just interesting to have both these guys.

I've talked to both of them, separate podcast over the years, about each other and what went on and what happened and learning from them.

And I mean, I even remember Rick telling me one time like oh shit like I taught this kid

too much you know and look how good he is so the factory Honda in the early 90s when Rick came

back and Jeff was on top with the number one plate and you had Jmb and the mechanics were fighting
