| 0:39.8 | pelvic floor PT? Absolutely so the pelvic floor is a sling of muscles that sits at the base of our pelvis. |
| 0:46.6 | It has three actually four kind of basic functions we have bladder, bowel, |
| 0:52.2 | sexual and lymphatic drainage and it's also huge and |
| 0:55.2 | core stability. So it's a sling of muscles, they all attach to our pubis, our sip bones, and |
| 1:00.4 | our tail bones, and kind of serve all those functions. So they make the decision to keep things in and let |
| 1:05.8 | things out and are also hugely influential with our core. So essentially we have a superficial |
| 1:11.3 | pelvic floor layer that would be responsible for keeping things in. |
| 1:15.0 | So this is what would keep us continent, that would keep us from paying or |
| 1:18.0 | pooping ourselves, but also needs to stretch at the appropriate time. |
| 1:21.0 | So if we're having penetrative intercourse, these muscles would need to stretch at the appropriate time as well as releasing our |
| 1:27.0 | pebbles and platters when we choose to. |
| 1:29.8 | The deep layer is really responsible for kind of pelvic stability and core stability and it actually is the floor of the core. |
| 1:35.1 | So these are hugely influential muscles that are significantly impacted with pregnancy and postpartum |
| 1:41.0 | but also really important to note that we can have issues with these |
| 1:44.0 | without being pregnant or being postpartum they're just a part of the |
| 1:48.5 | mechanical system so because of the these are normal muscles and they contract |
