In part one, we explore the Gucci company's origin story and history,

There might be a little myth mixed into that origin story.

We left off Gucci's timeline in 1953.

That year witnessed both the expansion of the company into the U.S.

with the opening of its first New York City boutique

and the death of the company's founder and patriarch Gucci.

With Gucci, I was passing Aldo, his son,

really moved into his role as the company leader and figurehead.

As Aldo's daughter Patricia Wrights quote,

with the opening of the Manhattan store,

my father's passion was unleashed.

He took great pride in the fact that all three of his sons

were by then working for the family firm.
