When the bombs went off at the Boston Marathon,

highly trained dogs were rushed to the scene to search for more explosives.

Since 9-11, dogs have been used more than ever

because nothing has proven more effective against hidden bombs

than the nose of a working dog.

The best of them serve with US Special Operations,

and they're in a league of their own.

In Afghanistan, there have been 42 dogs killed in action,

and when they're wounded in combat,

they get the same care as any soldier.

And when these dogs retire from special operations, some of them, like Rex, Dwayne

Kahn's dog, find jobs with law enforcement. Now to more on that hero dog that helped

take down the leader of ISIS. Part of an elite group of canines trained in secret from a very

young age to complete dangerous task that

only can be done by man's best friend.

From every branch of the military, some of those dogs in special operations units working

to complete some very dangerous missions.
