Welcome back for episode 174 of the Ross Bullen podcast otherwise known as RBP174.

So today is national slay a dragon day. Have you heard about this? No, sir. I'm not familiar with national slay dragon day. Okay, let me explain. So according to Greek mythology, this all relates to St. George, you know St. George. Yeah, we're boys. Okay. So St. George, according to this Greek folklore, he had a magic sword that he used to slay a dragon.

Because the king's daughter was about to be sacrificed to said dragon. So he killed the dragon to save the king's daughter. Essentially, what the fuck? But as you know, all heroes, you know, eventually die. All heroes. I know there's a better way of saying that there's a lot of legends, all legends, I believe that's actually what Batman said in the dark night at the end. I was trying to reference that. But I forgot the law. He said all heroes eventually die. Is that what it was? No, but that's a hilarious interpretation of it. Okay.

Well, the reason why I say that is because after St. George slayed this dragon, he was arrested, tortured, and beheaded. Oh, because he was a devout Christian. Ah, and the emperor was very against that. This was like the year 300 AD. People have been getting their heads chopped off for religious reasons for all of human history. That's part of what we do. Yeah. So after his death, uh, St. George was dubbed the Patrons.

St. of England. Okay. I believe was his official title. So after he got his head chopped off. Yeah, yeah. He was, I guess like a like a martyr. That would be the right term.

Post-humanly honored, like nipsy hustle. Yeah. It's a great example. So after his death, uh, in the early 14th century, British soldiers wore a patch on their uniform with a red cross on it in honor of St. George.

And to this day, you can see that cross on the British Union flag. That's the red cross that you see on there. That's an honor of St. George. I did not know where that came from. Certainly wouldn't have guessed slayed dragon day. God, I hope you're right. Yeah. So put a lot of faith in you here, AJ. Yeah. No, these are all facts. You know, I didn't have much on slayed dragon day. I did. Well, it's also known as St. George's day. Oh, but I like, I like slayed dragon day because it sounds tight. But really it really, it sounds way tighter. Yeah.
