I didn't grow up in your average household. My parents raised me and my three other

siblings in a plant-based Nutritarian household. This meant there was no potato chips, pizza,

ice cream, or even soda in my childhood.

This caused great times around healthy food, occasional fights, and even some tears.

In today's episode, I've invited my parents, Dr. Furman and Lisa, or as I like to call them,

mom and dad, to talk about what growing up in a nutrition

conscious household looked like.

So my first question for you to guess are, when you talked about nutrition when you guys were

dating and you decided to have children, What did that look like for you?

What did you expect to happen when you wanted to raise children with nutrition in mind?

Well, I remember when we were dating, we would talk about nutrition.

And Lisa was very excited about the whole idea of learning more about nutrition.

Actually, she was the major impetus

that encouraged me to go back to medical school to pursue a career in nutritional medicine.

I remember one of our first dating meetings, I was saying to her, we just hadn't started dating yet,

and she was going to medical school or applying to medical school.

And I kind of said, what do you want to do that for?

Doctors just prescribed poisonous drugs to people to enable their dangerous eating habits.

And you know, when all these diseases would ever have to happen if people ate right anyway.

And then she said to me, well, if you're so passionate about all this, why don't

you go to medical school too and change the way things are done? And that started at all going
