Welcome back to the Wonder Dip, the idea reactor,

the exploratory linguistic playland.

I like that idea, actually, that this show is to the spirit,

what the dirty Donald's playland was to the five-year-old me.

Tis a goal worth stretching to, I think.

Anyway, my name is Michael Philip, and there is a concept I've

rambled about numerous times on the show at this point.

One I learned about from the late great mythopoetic psychologist,

James Hillman, what he calls growing down.

It hinges on the idea that every person really does have a kind of interactive destiny.

A more complete version of themselves they can become,

if they're willing to courageously go toward it,

if they're willing to listen to that inner whisper and take action

to radically trust themselves.

If they are, then they begin to achieve this process he called growing down.

I suppose he'd say their soul is growing down into its unique corporeal form.

The same way a great tree has to grow down to root itself deep into the ground.

If it's really going to grow into its full majesty.

Definitely check out his book, Souls Code, for more on that.

But it's a fantastical idea in practicality because not that many people get there.

Not that many people reach mature majestic oak tree status.
