Welcome back to another awesome week.

On at the Epic Gardening Podcast, I am am Kevin and I'm actually joined by probably one of

my original follows on Instagram way back when I first even created the epic gardening Instagram.

Darrell, I believe you were one of the first people I ever followed. So we have Darrell

Chang, founder of Houseplant Journal and the author of The New Plant Parent today on the show and actually

for the rest of this week. And the first topic we're talking about is a new philosophy of

house plant care, which ties in very directly with Daryl's work on his Instagram and his website

and certainly on his upcoming book. So first of all, Darrell, thanks for coming on. And I think it's

long overdue that we had a conversation. Yeah, thanks, Kevin. It's great to be on the show and

speaking with you. Cool. Cool. So when your book came out, I just read the title, The New Plant

Parent, and I sort of already had a little grain of an inkling of an understanding of the angle you were coming at.

And so I think for me, coming from the edible's world and certainly having some houseplants, but not a ton,

that one of my interesting perspectives, I guess, was that a lot of people seemed to be growing houseplants without the knowledge that these plants all evolved and are

endemic to the outdoors in certain parts of the world, right? And so they certainly go through

much more varied conditions, I guess you could say, than we often prescribe. And so could you kind of

give us a little overview of your philosophy of house plant care?

Because it's quite different from other people.
