Hey, does it's just me today?

I thought I would answer patron emails.

This first patron emails from patron Julia,

she writes, I've recently gotten a job working with kids 12 to 17

with mental health issues in a residential treatment facility and I'm having a

bit of trouble knowing my place with them. These kids have been through an insane

amount of trauma and as I am not their parent nor their therapist,

I'm having a hard time making a place for myself. I care about them a lot, and I want them to know that I I care and I don't want to be the bad guy.

It also doesn't help that my coworkers are usually just sitting on their phones and it seems that

me and them aren't on the same page since they don't really care to be there.

Also, since I am new, the kids don't respect me and don't listen to my directions.

One girl said to me that it's because they don't know me and they have trust issues.

I have knowledge about attachment issues thanks to your deep dive,

but I've recently learned about reactive attachment disorder and I'm not too familiar with it.

So is there any advice you can give me,

what's my place with these kids,

how should I treat them,

how do I make them respect me more?
