Summary
1948 America looked a lot like 2023 as Democrats decided to punt racial progress and equality to appease white moderate voters. That was until young Hubert Humphrey took the stage at the 1948 DNC and made the case for inclusiveness and reaching out to Black voters. Journalist Samuel G Freedman joins us to connect the historical dots between then and now and fill in the historical amnesia for a new generation fighting against the same? old forces of white supremacy.
