Standing at eight feet two inches tall, Charles Byrne was the tallest man in the world.

In fact, it earned him the nickname, the Irish Giant. As you'd imagine, when Charles arrived in London

in 1782, he caused quite a stir. There was great curiosity about his height, and he was even

presented before the Royal Society in a game of good-natured speculation.

How, they wondered, had he grown so tall?

But by May the following year, death came calling for Charles, in the form of tuberculosis.

And while most people were ready to mourn his passing, one man was plotting with gleeful excitement

for a chance to dissect the

Irish Giants' remains. This January, Grim and Mile presents will shift focus, from the great

wide world around us to the universe inside us all. In a journey that will span thousands of years

and countless borders, we plan to unpack the dark and twisted history of healing medicine.
