Well, the government shutdown has crossed the one-week mark, with Congress still deadlocked on a funding plan.

Competing stop-gap bills from Republicans and Democrats again today went nowhere, but the blame game is going strong.

Speaker Johnson has been a massive roadblock to getting anything done. His members aren't even here doing their jobs.

They've been home for weeks. He's not serious and he doesn't give it to him.

That's Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. By now you should know that Democrats are demanding

an extension on enhanced Obamacare subsidies.

However, Schumer insisted that a promise from Republicans to sit down and negotiate on them

won't be enough for Democrats to vote for the GOP funding bill the House passed.

Chuck Schumer and the Democrats over here are playing political games.

We all know the reasons why.

They have selfish motivations because they're trying to cover themselves for their left flank.

That's House Speaker Mike Johnson, who has indicated he won't bring the chamber back into session

until senators passed the GOP bill. He also signaled House Republicans won't support a

stand-alone bill to pay troops during the shutdown.

The gridlock is also taking a toll on travel.

The U.S. Travel Association says the economic sector is losing about $1 billion each week.

A Gaza ceasefire deal could be reached in the next 48 hours.

That's according to multiple sources familiar with the negotiations.

The talks in Egypt are focused on ending the Gaza conflict, including where Israeli forces

will withdraw to within Gaza, the timeline for the release of the hostages, and the list

of Palestinian prisoners set to be released.
