We're all gonna die!

What you've just heard is a very real memory for me. Of a trip to Bush Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia

to ride the Loch Ness Monster, which at the time was the scariest roller coaster on the East Coast.

And what an appropriate name. Yes, yesterday. Tonight's episode. It's gonna be a Scottish theme tonight.

Let me ask you this. What scared you about that? Well, that roller coaster, when you stand below it and you look up at it,

it is monumentally intimidating. It's a hundred and fourteen feet tall. There's a 60-mile an hour drop.

It has two interlocking loops. It goes over the water. It's a reason it's called the Loch Ness Monster. It's very cool.

And frightening, bright yellow. And I just had always kind of been a little bit afraid of roller coasters in general.

And my aunt thought it would be big fun to take me on that. And when she yelled that, we were in the front cars.

And it wasn't just me that screamed when she said it. It was everybody on the roller coaster as we plunged at 60 miles an hour down the side of an 11 story building.

Fearing for life and limb. Yes. Speaking of limb, did you raise your hands?

I'm one of those people that's a little afraid. I'm afraid they're gonna, you know, get close to me.

Yeah, you don't stick your arm out the window driving. You know, you learn that as a kid.

Right. Your dad tells you don't do that. But you do a little bit of the flying bit.

But she was not afraid. No. She saw an opportunity to amplify your fear in the name of fun.

Yeah, what she thinks is fine. And you know, whether they like to do not the rest of the people on the other cars behind you.

Yes. But and this is what we're getting at here.

It's a controlled fear, right?

Yes. Yes. You know, roller coasters are safe. Yes.

For the most part. You can pretty much say you're going to assume that you're going to live through the ride.

Right. Even though you were not in control of that, you weren't steering the thing. You're not driving it.
