Summary

In the first of two holiday-themed episodes, Kristen & Mike from The Sunnydale Stacks join us for a look back at Joe Dante's 1984 horror/comedy classic Gremlins. For those of us that grew up with this film and its sequel, certain aspects have become somewhat interchangeable over the years - but where as Gremlins 2 has a more farcical sense of humor, the original's is pitch black.

It had been a long time since most of us had seen this one, so it was interesting to see how accurately our memories lined up with what's actually on screen and just how much of this we had completely forgotten.

Topics include: some of our your favorite non-traditional Christmas movies, the original (and much darker) version of this story, why Carlos thinks Billy should be a little kid, the insane life cycle of these creatures and the problematic rules they come with, an argument about the infamous Phoebe Cates monologue, why certain supporting characters seemingly disappear, the misguided marketing campaign for the movie, how we all found out there was no Santa Claus, and much much more!
