This episode takes us behind the scenes of director Peter Ferelli's new comedic drama, Green Book.

The film tells the true story of Tony Lipp, an Italian-American bouncer from the Bronx,

who is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley, a world-class African-American pianist, on a concert

tour from Manhattan to the Deep South in 1962.

During the trip, they must rely on the Green Book to guide them to the few establishments

that were safe for African Americans.

As they are confronted with racism and danger, as well as unexpected humanity and humor,

the two men develop a bond that surprises them both.

In addition to Green Book, Mr. Forelli's credits with his brother Bobby include the feature films

Dumb and Dumber 2, Hall Pass, The Heartbreak Kid, Shallow, There's Something About Mary,

Kingpin, and Dumb and Dumber, as well as solo projects such as the movie for television,

Cuckoo, the pilot for the series Unhitched, and episodes

of the series Loudermilk.

Following a recent screening of the film at the DGA Theatre in Los Angeles, Mr. Ferelli

spoke with director Dan Gilroy about filming Green Book.

During their conversation, Mr. Forelli discusses his fascination with road movies, working with Oscar

winner Mahershiela Ali and Oscar nominee Vigo Mortensen, and fighting preconceived notions

made about him based on his previous films.
