Everybody happy Thanksgiving. I really hope your day is full of joy family. Some good

food. But I want to talk to you about gratitude. This day is about gratitude,

which is good because it seems to me that gratitude is in short supply these

days. Even though it's the best time to be alive in history. I have this

miracle of prosperity that we have. Too many of us are instead choosing to be

bitter, resentful, envious, and angry. Now however justified you might believe

you are in feeling those things, the fact remains. These are destructive

emotional states. They lead to nothing good. That state of mind is a choice. You

can choose to be grateful and optimistic or you can choose victimhood. You can

believe you control your fate or you can believe the false promises of

demagoguing politicians. You say only a vote for them will make you happy. This

country was built on this sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the simple but

crucial right to pursue one's happiness. I think Thanksgiving is simply a

reminder of that. It's a snapshot of history where the first pilgrims sought

freedom to pursue their happiness and we're willing to suffer and sacrifice to do

it. So we should ask ourselves, have we been sacrificing anything close to the

first pilgrims or America's founders? Anything close to the men that stormed

the beaches of Normandy? Have you sacrificed as a gold star wife has sacrificed?

The answer is likely not, which is good. It means things are good. But perhaps on a

day like today we might recall a sense of perspective. Whatever hardships you

might face, always remember this hard truth. Someone else has suffered
