as most of you know I've been on vacation for the last week or so and I've been

enjoying it and at some point I'll do a whole pod about the vacation and all

the wonderful things that I did and I saw while I was on vacation Friday night

I got a text message from my man Michael Kim and he was the person who told me

that Grant Wall had died and that he had died at the World Cup and obviously

like that brought about a whole bunch of different things that were said about

his untimely death. I just really I was gonna tweet about it but there's there

wasn't enough I couldn't be concise on Twitter talking about Grant and I wanted

to talk about him because he's he was a colleague who a friendly colleague

let's put it that way a friendly colleague who really helped me with something

and I wanted to to share that when I was working at 120 sports which is now

stadium ballies I started there in 2014 and at the time 120 was connected with

sports illustrated so it gave us an an opportunity to talk with some really

smart people like John Wertheim or Tim Layton you know how much I love the book

blood sweat and chalk and I always try to convince people that they should be

reading that book once a year we got the opportunity to talk with Grant Wall

I would say once a quarter you know once every three months or so when there was a

big soccer story he would come on and we would talk about soccer I had already

kind of gone through my Renaissance of loving soccer like I I didn't grow up

with soccer it wasn't a thing for me until I got out into homewood and I had a

friend Sean Johnson not the Sean Johnson of the Chicago fire who played soccer
