Republic FC what a phenomenal job last night winning a shootout

against Sporting KC. They become the first non-MLS team to reach the final of the

U.S. Open Cup since 2018. They'll play Orlando City, S.C. on the road, September 7th.

Now, for the record, I wouldn't know the difference between the U.S. Open Cup and a teacup. But here's what I do know. Sacramento is a soccer crazy

community. I've said that for years. As a matter of fact I've shared the story of

telling Kevin Negegal when he was getting ready to build his stadium not twenty three thousand build it to a

capacity of thirty thousand because I believe you'd have thirty thousand for every single

match but congratulations to the fans of Sacramento, the coaches, the

players of the Sacramento Republic. Congratulations to Kevin Nagel and his group.

Congratulations to Ben Gumpert.

But here's a guy that will never get congratulated

for what he did to Sacramento.

And that would be Ron Burkel, who left the city

of Sacramento standing at the altar.

That's right.
