last week is pn's Adrian Wojranowski the first to report that the Kings and Malik Monk had reached an agreement on a four-year

deal that will keep the free agent guard in Sacramento.

Is that important?

Yeah, it's important.

He's a good player. But I mean the reaction over the last couple days,

you would have thought that the Kings have reached an agreement with Michael Jordan in his prime.

Let's calm down, would you please Kings fans? I mean, Malik was on the team last year and they finished in ninth place and didn't make the

playoffs.

So I mean, you know, come on, all right?

Let's be realistic about this.

Is he part of the nucleus? am I happy that the kings kept monk yes but I mean

come on now let's keep things in perspective the bottom line is the kings have a lot of

work to do this summer if they're going to move up the ladder in the west.

Chances are if they keep their 13th pick in the draft this week,

that player is not going to come in and make an impact or really help the ball club,

at least for the

immediate future. The King's going to have to make some trades, free agent, whatever

the case may be, but if they just keep Monk and don't do anything else other
