boy it has been a rough couple of weeks as we have had to say goodbye to some of the all-time greats in the sports world of we say goodbye to Jerry West and now the say hey kid

Willie Mays arguably the greatest player in the history of baseball

gone when you think about Willie Mays I think about the catch in 1954, the World Series that the New York Giants won,

game one, still to this day, arguably the greatest catch in the history of baseball.

Phenomenal.

But you look at his career numbers,

301 batting average, 3,293 hits,

660 Homer's, 1909 RBIs. He started his career in 48 with the Birmingham Black Barons.

New York, San Francisco, 51 to 52, served in the military and the Korean War, then came back to play from 54 to 72 with the Giants,

ended his career with the Mets in 1972 for a season.

Think about this, 24-time All-Star,

the World Series, as I mentioned in 1954 with that great, great

over-the-shoulder catch in game one was the MVP of the NL twice 54 and 65,

the rookie of the year in 51, was a gold club winner 12 times.

Not only was a batting champion in 54, but think about this, okay?

He was a stolen-based leader in the National League on four different occasions.

He was the NL-Home run leader four different times. I mean, Willie Mays did it all. Great person, great, great ambassador to Major League Baseball.
