Summary

50 million followers and fans.  His words matter.  Yet LA Lakers, LeBron James has decided to address a situation that has yet to be investigated and post his opinion of an expected outcome in a police shooting of a young black woman in Columbus, Ohio.  Today's rant is not about the specific issue of the shooting.  It's about the lack of voices coming out about LeBron's comments.  I've said it before and I'm going to say it again, quoting Dr. Martin Luther King.  "Our lives begin to end, the day we remain silent about things that matter."  Where are the voices of reason suggesting to wait?  Steve Kerr, Greg Popovich, Stan Van Gundy have all been vocal about social issues. Crickets.  Where is the NBA?  Silence. Isn't this irresponsible on LeBron's part?  No backlash for LeBron's comments?  What if a popular columnist or TV/Radio show host were to do something similar with far fewer fans? cannot be selective with our noise, not against hate.

0:36.3

And then MLK in a sermon in Selma, Alabama in 1965

0:41.0

said this, our lives begin to end the day we remain silent about things that matter.

0:51.2

Well a lot of people's lives are beginning to end today because yesterday

LeBron James with over 50 million Twitter followers did something that I still cannot believe.

You know the story by now of the white police officer in Columbus, Ohio that fatally shot a 16-year-old black girl who was

1:15.5

apparently getting ready to stab another girl. I say apparently because that's

1:20.0

what the video and still photograph showed but the investigation is in its

1:24.3

preliminary stages and like I've said and said this time and time again you need to

1:29.3

wait until the investigation is complete but not LeBron James.

1:34.0

No not LeBron James because he now feels that he is judge and jury.

1:39.0

So he puts out the photograph of the police officer in Columbus who fired the fatal shots

1:45.8

and puts your next in capital letters and then in hashtags accountability.

1:51.9

My question is, why is everyone so silent on this? What's right is

1:56.7

right and what's wrong is wrong? Where's Steve Kerr? Where's Greg

2:02.0

Popovich? Where's Stan Van Gundy? They have no problem speaking
