Pete Rose, gone at the age of 83.

He was simply great on the baseball diamond. Fabulous. Three

World Series championships, three batting titles, one most viable player

award, two gold gloves, was Rookie of the Year, and he made 17

all-star appearances in an unequaled five positions.

Second base, left field, right field, third base, first base, and of course

baseball's all-time hits leader. Again he's great, all right, he was incredible. And if you remember or if you were alive to watch Pete Rose play, he never cheated you. He ran every ball hard. He took the extra base, the guy did it all.

But of course there has been a debate for decades now on whether Rose should be in

Baseball's Hall of Fame.

You know what, it wouldn't bother me if Pete Rose were

inducted into the Hall of Fame now posthumously but I'm also on the side of the

fence that he has no one to blame but himself through the years

of waiting and waiting and waiting.

On every clubhouse in baseball, there is a big sign when you walk in talking about the perils of betting on baseball.
