I want to start off by talking about the passing of Bill

was the coach of the Sacramento Kings

when I arrived in Sacramento.

And I remember walking into a restaurant

on Northgate Boulevard for a media luncheon

before the season began, and I couldn't believe that I was in the same room as Bill Russell and Willis

Reed who was an assistant coach like that was just I couldn't comprehend that and little that I

know that a year later I would be the TV voice of Sacramento.

What I remember about Bill

is that when you talk to Bill,

he very often would pause for several seconds before answering your question, whether it was with a microphone or whether it was just in common conversation.

And you never really knew

if you had said something stupid or not,

because Bill would give you this blank stare and then his cackle laugh would emerge and you would go

phew thank goodness it must have been not that stupid. Bill's laughing at me.

Bill, I never saw Bill give an autograph. He always had the exact same response. He was always nice about it, but he would say I don't sign autographs.

He and autographs. He was somebody that Jerry Reynolds had a great relationship with in the front office.

He knew Bill a lot better than I did.
