It's a salute to the literary magazine Grand Street, which began publication in 1981.

From the beginning of this show, I've been wanting to have little magazines on,

and this is the first I have had, and the way I decided what to do first was I went to my shelf,

looked at all of the reviews I've bought over the last two or three years, and I discovered on my shelves I had at least 11 issues of Grand Street.

It's been the magazine that I, since I don't subscribe and don't automatically get any little magazines, I'm

always going by the cover, judging the little magazine by its cover. And I find myself often

buying Grand Street when I see it. I thought we would talk to its editor, Ben Sonnenberg,

who we have on the phone in New York.

And we also have here the very fine Los Angeles writers who have appeared in Grand Street,

Esther McCoy, whose memoirs have been appearing there.
