in the shop because it represented the way New Yorkers treated each other in all those

days.

You couldn't go anywhere so and didn't offer you something for free.

Do you want some water?

Are you hungry?

Do you need to eat?

And they wouldn't take payment for it.

New Yorkers were really trying to take care of each other.

And the column was about the fact that there was one active spectacular, hideous evil

that day, but really hundreds of thousands of smaller acts of goodness.
