Welcome to today's encouragement from Our Daily Bread. The reading for today titled

0:11.6

Grandmother Research was written by Kenneth Peterson. Researchers at Emory University used MRI scans to study the brains of grandmothers.

0:23.6

They measured empathetic responses to images that included their own grandchild, their own

0:29.6

adult child, and one anonymous child.

0:32.6

The study showed that grandmothers have a higher empathy toward their own grandchild than even their own

0:38.7

In his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

1:20.7

Some translate this to say,

1:22.6

You will make his heart full of joy, and he will sing loudly.

1:26.9

Like an empathetic grandmother, God feels our pain.

1:31.6

In all their distress, he too was distressed, says Isaiah 63, verse 9, and he feels our joy.

1:40.1

Psalm 149, 4 says, The Lord takes delight in his people.

1:45.8

When we feel discouraged, it's good to remember that God has real feelings for us.

1:52.1

He's not a cold, far away God, but one who loves and delights in us.

1:58.4

It's time to draw close to him, feel his smile, and listen to his singing.
