Some riders prefer to go solo and other than the obvious assets of riding in a group, in other words safety and having someone there if you break down or they break down or need help or assistance of any kind, it's nice to have somebody there. But other than that, aside from the obvious,

one of the real advantages of traveling with someone else, be it another rider or even a

pillion, is sharing the experience, sharing your day, sharing the adventure that you've had because

when you travel by yourself I think in my mind a lot of times you forget a lot of what you do.

I mean we have the memorable moments that stick with us for a long time

but a lot of the stuff just goes by. I remember riding one particular time on Vancouver Island

exploring the back roads going through the mountains the logging roads etc

checking out the odd trail saw a couple of beautiful vistas the weather was

perfect I mean it was it was like your picture perfect trip it was all warm and it was

warm at night it was just it was great.

And I remember I pulled in by a lake that I like to swim at and I had planned on it and it was a planned stop for me

near the end of the day or say mid afternoon.

And I pull in there and nobody's there. jump in the water it's warm it's got a

nice sandy beach there little tiny beach that you go in at it was perfect it was

beautiful and I remember floating around on my back there in the water looking up at that beautiful blue sky and thinking,

man life doesn't get any better than this.

And then as I said that to myself I kind of thought, you know I'm probably going to forget this.

I'm probably going to do this like I do so many things by myself and totally forget all the details about the day.

Now if I had somebody there with me, we would talk about it and we'd maybe reminisce about it down the road, maybe even take some photographs together.

But when you're by yourself, there's something different there.

It's a different experience, but it's also different when it comes to remembering.

And there is a way that you can remember, or at jog your memory and that's just making notes, writing it down.
