Summary

Sometimes, in sports — and in life — we’re living five minutes ago, or we’re worried about something that hasn’t happened yet. But according to author, sports psychologist and mental-performance coach Graham Betchart — who’s trained some of the best players in the NBA — it’s our ability to stay with the present moment that separates the great from the good. In this episode, Betchart explains how, just as we train our bodies for strength, speed and agility, we can also train our minds to always come back to “where our feet are.” He shares quick techniques we can all use to center ourselves, reveals the only stat that really matters, and explains why if we really want to win, we’ve got to let go of winning.

That's mental performance coach Graham Bechart, explaining why we should all get a little

and get vulnerable. It's an approach that's been shockingly effective in Graham's work as he's

the MBA. But for Graham and the players he works with, being vulnerable demands more than

taking risks on the court. It demands setting aside your fear of losing and even your hope of

winning. It demands that you come back again and again to the present moment, even when it's the

last place you want to be. That kind of vulnerability Graham says doesn't always come easily for an
