in the 2020s, as they were in the 1970s through the 80s.

Yes, there are some great ones.

Paul Tremblay, Grady Hendrix, Adam Neville, Sylvia Moreno, Garcia,

Max Brooks, and others.

But it is not a golden age for literary horror,

where horror titles top the best-seller charts, as often as not.

Fewer people consume their popular culture on the page than on screen.

But now, as ever, books and film and television still overlap.

A handful of genre novelists became screenwriters,

even directors, without ever giving up their day jobs.
