The week behind us started with devastating news for the Houston Rockets fans.

Their only two point guard and one of their best players, Fred Van Fleet, got his ACL torn in an unofficial team workout in the Bahamas.

After Jason Tatum and Tyrese Halliburton, who will miss the upcoming season,

this is the first major injury to happen to the Western Conference contender.

It is an ugly reminder of how fragile everyone's title odds are and how significant every season is when your team has a real shot at winning it all.

The Nuggets already had two seasons without their second best player at the end of them, so every season we get to have all of our guys relatively healthy can't be taken for granted and has to be optimized.

If that means training for another guy despite going into the luxury tax and not resetting the repeater counter,

your ownership better do it or else expect to be ridiculed and called out repeatedly.
