Would you turn, please, to 1 Corinthians the 12th chapter this evening?

1 Corinthians 12, 18.

Well, let me back up.

Verse 13 says, for by one spirit are we all baptized into one body,

whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have

been all made to drink into one spirit. How many bodies are there? One. For the body is not one

member but many. One body, but how many members? Many. If the foot shall say, because I'm not the hand, I'm not of the body,

is it therefore not of the body? Well, no, it's still part of the body. If the ears shall say

because I'm not to eye, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body? Well, no,

it's still part of the body and still an important part of the body.

If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? Well, there wouldn't be any.

If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? There wouldn't be any. Now, why would he say all this?

You know, he's comparing the body of christ made up of individual

people like me and you to the human body made up of many individual parts and members and why would

you talk about somebody saying i'm not that part so I'm not part of the whole deal.

Well, obviously, people have tended to get their eyes on something else, some other part

than themselves, and long for that, and not esteem their own place.

And even get disgruntled and bitter and go,

I'm understanding this is bitterness when you hear,

if I can't be that part, I'm just no part of the whole deal.

Can you hear that?

Well, this must be an issue or it wouldn't be here in the Bible.
