Hey friends, welcome to the Graceology with Gwen Smith podcast.

I'm Gwen Smith and I'm really glad you're here.

We've changed things up a bit for season four, so while I'm still hosting weekly shows with incredible guests and meaningful conversations,

0:21.6

I'll also be sharing a weekly episode with just me, talking to just you, in a reflective,

0:29.6

devotional kind of style to help connect those bruised and broken places we all have to the beautiful

0:35.6

hope of Jesus. So now I invite you to sit back and take a deep

0:41.0

breath as I share with you a moment of grace. Psalm 62 verses 1 and 2 reads,

1:27.4

Nice, right? I mean, talk about a

1:29.6

prodigal child. Absalom's rebellion was reckless and ruthless. Yet, in the thick of a dreary,

1:36.8

difficult, and dangerous situation, David didn't complicate matters by freaking out, like I often do.

1:46.6

Instead, he called out to God simply,

1:54.7

with what appears to be a calm courage. In Psalm 62 verses 5 and 6, David penned that same calm courage again. He wrote, My soul finds rest in God alone. My salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation.

2:05.2

He is my fortress and I will never be shaken. I mean, who rests when their child is trying to hunt them

2:12.3

down and kill them? It's as if when he remembers who God is, he gains confidence, and then he throws around defiant

2:20.7

declarations like, I will never be shaken.
