I don't know that there's a lot to negotiate. They want to talk about other issues. Those other issues, we're more than, I'm more than happy to have that conversation. But I don't think you can keep this hostage. As soon as they release the hostage, then we can talk about those other issues. I would suspect that we'll probably cross paths on the floor. We're both on the floor quite often. Our offices are not far apart. So if he wants to chat, he knows where to find me.

But I think at this point right now, the issue set is pretty straightforward.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune there making it clear where Republicans stand on negotiations to end the government shutdown. The question

is, will today's vote in the Senate be any different? Plus, we'll dig into President Trump's

apparent endorsement of Project 2025 proposals. After repeatedly denying he knew anything about this

during his campaign. The question is, was this actually the plan all along?

Meanwhile, the Trump administration says the United States is in an armed conflict with drug cartels.

The question is, is that a legal justification for lethal strikes?

Washington. Today is day three of the government shutdown, and there's still no sign of a resolution

as Republicans and Democrats continue to trade accusations of who's to blame here. Votes on a

funding bill are scheduled to resume in the Senate this afternoon, following a break yesterday.

But if those votes fail again, I'm told no votes are expected

over the weekend, which would extend the shutdown until at least Monday. Senate Majority Leader

John Thun said Democrats will have another chance today to vote to reopen the government

and that negotiations with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer are not going to accomplish a lot.

I think what, you know, government agencies ought to be doing is the job and the work, and that's

what I try to stay focused on.
