Hello everybody and welcome to the Dennis Prager show.

As many of you know I have been devoting about a part of 10 years to writing an explanation

and commentary on the most important books ever written the first five books of the Bible.

They're the basis of everything that we cherish that is we being the Judeo-Christian world

the Western world. I've done three volumes I'm on the fourth which is the book of numbers

very boring name for an extremely interesting book and Hebrew the name of the book is in the wilderness

which is exactly where we find ourselves today in America. I can't think of a more appropriate

title for the times in which we live in the wilderness. So I was working on chapter 27

I expect very few of you to know what that is about but it's a very interesting little

shall I say anecdote little point that is a huge point

and completely relevant to our time. You all heard even if you went to college you probably heard

of Moses Moses had two sons but they didn't succeed him a man named Joshua from a completely

different Israelite tribe succeeded Moses. Now interestingly Moses had a brother named Aaron his

son did succeed him as the high priest. Now priesthood did go by blood so that explains one reason

nevertheless why didn't Moses's sons or one of his two succeed him whereas Aaron's son did succeed him

and this was the bible's way of saying you choose leaders by merit not by blood a radical radical

radical change in human history. Fast forward to the modern era a man named Lawrence E. Harrison

wrote a book that I brought to your attention oh about 20 years ago who prosperous this man ultimately
