Is the kind of politics that we are practicing, or at least the GOP is practicing in the United States, contagious?

We've seen this all around the world. This is one of the ways that authoritarian

governments rise to power. You're seeing it right now in India with Modi,

you know, big blaming Muslims for all the problems of the country and, you know,

the ginning up basically racial and sectarian and cast tensions.

You're seeing it in Hungary where Victor Orban ran for president back.

I believe it was in 2010 on a platform of building a wall on the southern border.

And then did so to keep out refugees from Syria.

Now they're seeing it in Sweden, and of course we saw the same thing in Russia, you know,

where Vladimir Putin rides around on a horse without a shirt on and, you know, trash talks

the queer community and, you know, goes after his opponents and controls all the media.

But it's an article by Martin Gellan in today's Guardian, the Guardian.com.

It's titled Sweden used to pride itself on moderation until the U.S. style culture wars
