And now for part two.

So what was the effect of this new vision, this new revelation, new church policy on Judaism?

And excuse me, as I've thought about it, I see at least three results, the effect on Judaism.

Number one, Jews become angry and they finalize the split,

and a new era of persecution is inaugurated. Chapter 12, verses 1 through 5, talk about the

assassination, the killing of James, the brother of John.

They're really an execution.

It's an execution under the direction of Herod Agrippa I.

Herod Agrippa was again king of the Jews.

The Romans allow Herod Agrippa, the grandson of Herod the Great, to have rule, but it's not for very long.

I think he's in office from 41 to 44 AD, and he's the one I think that sees that the killing of James really pleases the rest of Judaism. And so he's going to go

after the head of the Christian movement. He's already taken care of one third of the first presidency.

He locks up Peter. Peter's in prison or in jail. A funny story, I think, is told. And I think Luke, who's telling

this story, kind of having a little fun with this about how the angel comes and wakes up Peter,

and Peter is groggy and, you know, miraculous things happen so that Peter, you know,

finds himself out of the prison gates. And he comes to himself, said, ah, you know, finds himself out of the prison gates and he comes to himself, said,

ah, you know, the Lord is doing this. He goes to the house of John Mark, whom we will encounter

again. And Rhoda comes and says, oh, my gosh, it's Peter. And she runs back and leaves Peter there still knocking on the

door. Come on. You know, it's a great picture, isn't it? Yeah, it is. And I honestly think that

Luke is describing it that way so we can enjoy it, you know, have a little humorous things

unfold in our own life. And then, of course, we find, we see in this whole

story that the Lord is not going to allow his church to be destroyed. And what happens, ultimately,
