So this is our class on the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna, which is an English translation of

the Bengali Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamritha. Before I get into today's reading, I was just thinking,

you know, this translation itself is a remarkable piece of work.

So I mean Nikilaanadi did it, but he had a very, like an amazing team.

Many people don't know about that. So the writing itself, a good deal of what we are reading now, writing itself was thoroughly

reviewed and edited by his secretary who was none other than Margaret Woodrow Wilson.

She was the daughter of the President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson.

In fact, just reading upon on her, she, for a time, she was doing the duties of the first lady.

Because when her mother died and her father was still the president, so somebody had to be the hostess at the White House for all the, you know, the duties that the first lady normally does.

So she was there too.

And later after that, she became a disciple of Swami Nikila Randhiji.

And she thoroughly revised this manuscript so that it has this nice flow. You know, the English has a very nice flow to it.

Joseph Campbell, who later became this very noted writer on mythology,

the hero with a thousand faces.

And then he had this PBS series on the power of myth with Bill Moyers I think.

So he also helped with the, he was a disciple of Swami Nikilaananji and he also helped with the manuscript.

And the songs, the Bengali songs were translated.

Of course, Swami Nikolaanji was the one who translated,

but the present form in which we find them,

so poetical, so lyrical.

That's because they were put together by a poet,
