It's kind of a little microcosm of what is going on in British electoral politics under this very divisive multiculturalism we live in.

We've got fractious multi-party politics to fit and frayed multicultural Britain.

I think it's possibly a sign of things to come, that you're going to see that kind of tribal, religio-political mobilisation among British Muslims, anti-establishment British Muslims, who pretty much abandoned

the Labour Party.

Hello. Obviously, the big story today is

the Gorton and Denton by election. The Greens, Hannah Spencer, has been victorious with 41%

of the vote share or thereabouts. Labor, who've traditionally held this seat, if not come in second,

they've been relegated to third by reform. Tom, what did you make of these results?

I mean, it's a seismic result, whatever way you look at it. I mean, this seat at the last election,

it was one of only about 70 seats, I believe, where Labour actually got above 50% of the vote. It's

been Labour under various different constituency boundaries for generations, and yet they've been

toppled in the kind in what should have been among

the safest of safe labour seats.

I think it was the 38th safest seat that they had in the country.

So what you're seeing really in this by-election is the Labour coalition just completely

disintegrating.
