Chapter 1 Mindset is a conversation, the power of self-talk.

Imagine a friend yours came over for some advice.

Perhaps he lost his job or his wife left him or some other tragedy hit him.

Imagine he was facing a real crisis and turned to you for help.

What would happen if you said, your life is over?

You always make these mistakes.

You probably wouldn't have that friend for long would you?

While you should never candy code the truth, being overly dramatic is inaccurate and

it's unhelpful. Our friends turn to us for a combination of emotional support,

validation, and actual advice. You should support yourself in the same way.

Gorilla Mindset Shift. Treat yourself like a treasured and trusted friend.

Shouldn't you treat yourself like a trusted friend?

Think about how you talk to yourself when you're down.

Here's some actual things I've said to myself.

You are so stupid.

Why does this always happen to me?

My life is over. I always make the same mistakes

While those negative sentiments are bad themselves what makes them worse is how dramatic they are

If you said that to other people again, they would think well I don't always make that mistake

My life isn't over why do we talk to ourselves like that think about people you know who are hysterical and make over

reactions Don't we do that to ourselves?

It's time to change that and you can change it by improving yourself talk.
