Republican leaders in Congress are backing President Donald Trump's suggestion that the U.S.

quote, will take over Gaza, possibly with the help of American troops.

He's taking bold decisive action to try to ensure the peace of that region.

That's how Speaker Mike Johnson.

During a news conference today, he argued that the U.S.'s involvement could provide stability

in the region.

I think you have to do something to eradicate the threat to Israel.

So it just makes sense to make the neighborhood they're safer.

Trump's plan includes relocating Palestinians to neighboring countries and redeveloping the war-torn

enclave into what he described as the Riviera of the Middle East.

Condemnation was swift from officials in the Middle East and Europe, and Arab nations have

rejected any suggestions to displace Palestinians from Gaza, which opponents argue would amount to ethnic

cleansing.

Some Tel Aviv residents who are relatively liberal and left-leaning reject Trump's takeover plan
